Redactioneel

Het werd 127 all out.

23rd August 2015: Kikkers 2 – vs VRA 4

After scoring 2,104 runs (avg: 234 per game), taking 72 wickets (avg: 8 per game), 7x 50s, 1x 100! and 3x 5 wicket hauls!.. it has come to this:
The final game of the season, the final step towards promotion. We were there at 11:20ish and having heard the horrendous stories on the pitch we all assembled next to the pitch and tried our bowling and batting even before the stumps were laid.

On seeing this, which alarmed the host team and quickly made up another rule that “Please get off from the pitch”, Come on guys we are not in lords . We obliged to that dictum. We always respect/mirror host team. Toss time and Sud won the toss . He was clear what the team needs and he assembled the team and assessed the situation as though this was the first time he thought “what to do if we win the toss “. It was clear that Kikkers knew the ground better and they are better off chasing and Sud relied on our batting skills which had won 80% of the games. So decision was field first .

Ram and Awais opened the first spell. This was by far the best opening spell which VRA 4 ever had. The crescendo can never be better. At the final match that too championship decider match two guys working hard and building the pressure one end to another. Clearly opponents were out played, out classed with a brilliant bowling attack. Picture this, 8 overs 17 runs including 5 wides . Ram’s 3rd and 4th over was maiden and Awais was giving 2 runs for his overs ..The chirping in the ground only grew louder and louder which pressurized the batsman to play some strokes which were not there at all.

Timbers do talk ! First one Unni from kikkers was bowled by a yorker . Next over Awias bowled Richard. Two wickets back to back in the camp, the opponents were in shambles, it brought in their best/consistent player to the crease. He was showing lot of intent . At the other end another bowled from JD. JD is our Mr.Dependable and he takes wicket and latches on to the critical catches which contributes tremendously for us and makes an irreparable dent on the opposition. He took a brilliant catch of their consistent player which was brilliantly setup by KD. KD was really lethal. Niksy bowled an inswinger and the middle stump took a stroll in the park. At first drinks break 6 wickets (18th or 20th over), second drinks break (30th over) 7 wickets and Ram cleaned up the tail in the span of two overs. The opponents scored a meager total of 113. Thanks to a drop catch from “Yours truly” else the total would have been less than 100.

With the target set as 114 in 40 overs. Lakki and Viju as usual made the merry out of it. There wasn’t a moment where they were struggling . Runs were flowing easily 20 for none in 5 overs. Viju was even feeling lazy for running , he was strolling between the wickets. Both the openers were removed, again it was 80+ partnership . There was a statistics during the “After game discussion” that our opening pair had as many as 7 50+ partnership. This was one of the main hall mark of our batting prowess. The birthday boy and Ram wanted to make the team cross the winning line. Yes Ram did bat in the season and some of the cover drives he played were really very good and Sud needs to think about his batting line up for the next season. We won 9 out of 10 games this season, and the championship will promote us to Klasse 2 next year.

24 augustus: VRA ZAMI 2 - Crocodiles CC

Fellow cricktatians,
Below please inspect the 'scorecard' from our encounter with some reptiles we stumbled upon. In spite of their loathing tricks and tactics, we managed to keep them from winning by boring them into submission. Those of you with some of a cricket brain will see upon inspection that we weren't left with enough overs to pass their total. Thus we were forced to cast the boredom cricket can be at some scarce moments in a cricktatian's life.

There are of course forces claiming we had a too low an over rate. Which, in hindsight, is true. Had we had Ewoud de Man for our batting innings, this scorecard would have looked different i.e. not a draw. We have had our fun, especially with the Bloemen family. Both sons played very well and were a joy to watch (tying laces:-)

This Saturday the infamous Clash, be sure to be there.

Hastalavista,
Bbbbbbooooooob

29 augustus: the Clash of the Woods (ZAMI 1 vs ZAMI 2)

This Saturday the annual derby between the Zami Army (ZAMI 1) and the SAT Comedians (ZAMI 2) will take place. Our two Zami teams, who besides upholding the Laws also prioritize the social aspects of cricket, will battle it out for fame and glory. The captains and players would like to invite everyone to witness this as a spectator and participate in the post match festivities (a VRA team is bound to win). For the children we’ve arranged a bouncy castle and the weather forecast is looking excellent, so we hope to see you this Saturday at VRA!
